My guest for Happy Hour #112 is Tara-Leigh Cobble. She’s an author and musician that possesses a unique trio of gifts: as a conference keynote speaker, worship leader, and singer-songwriter. She has spent the past decade touring internationally and has contributed to more than 2,000 events for singles, college students, women’s groups, and youth groups.
Although she has been standing on stages for more than a decade, her passion in recent years has been behind the scenes, planting and developing a network of discipleship groups. Nearly 200 men’s and women’s D-Groups (Discipleship Groups) meet in homes around the world to memorize scripture, study theology, and pray together. “We like to call it the CrossFit of Bible studies,” she says, alluding to the intensity, accountability, community, and ultimately the joy of being in D-Group.
In our conversation, Tara-Leigh shares how D-Group got started out of a deep desire to know God and His Word. It started as a small group of strangers studying the Bible together and has grown exponentially in the years since. She shares about praying for authority in her life (who prays for that!?) and how God answered by letting her live with Matt and Lauren Chandler.
I was so convicted and encouraged by my conversation with Tara-Leigh. I think you’ll walk away wanting to know the God of the Bible better. She does such a great job of describing the dangers of worshipping a god of our own making, and the treasure of knowing God’s true character as it is revealed in His word.

Hi Jamie, Is the chronological Bible that you all recommend listed here? Maybe I missed it. Thank you!!
I commented on Sarah’s podcast, however I listened to Tara’s interview last week while traveling for work. I felt compelled to comment; I loved hearing her journey from musician to D-Group founder AND living with the Chandlers. My husband and I are volunteer pastors (church plant) in Salem; we invite people into our home (to stay if they need a place, for a family dinner, to hang out, etc). It was encouraging to hear Tara’s perspective of living with the Chandlers. Thank you for what you do Jamie.
