Remember when we thought January was the longest month we had ever lived. Well, that was before April showed up on the scene! We did it, and now that May is here we are gonna party!
May is a BIG month around here at Ivey Media — did you know that is our business name, yes very official! — and there is a lot to celebrate. First off, May 6 is my birthday. Yes, I’m turning 42, which the funny thing about this is that I’ve been declaring that I’m 42 for about the past 6 months. No idea why, but recently at the dinner table I figured out that I am indeed still 41 for a few more days. My kids couldn’t even fathom how you forget your age. Aaron and I just shook our heads and said, “oh you just wait”.
Then on May 9th THE HAPPY HOUR WITH JAMIE IVEY podcast turns SIX! Yes, she’s growing up right before our eyes and we couldn’t be more proud of the podcast she’s becoming!! For real you guys we have been bringing you some amazing shows for 6 years – 312 weeks – 2,190 days!!! I would love nothing more than to see what your favorite show has been over the years and how long you have been listening! Tag me on Instagram using these sharables over the next week and we’ll send one lucky winner a free t-shirt!
May 15th is Lyndsey’s birthday. Lyndsey is my get-it-all-done-behind-the-scenes girl and I’m so grateful for her! The fact that shows get made, I meet deadlines, I get on airplanes, and I remember anything is because of her! Send her some love this month on Instagram!

May is mental health awareness month and we have pulled together 6 past episodes and resources that our guests have shared with me on the show. Their honesty and sharing of their stories have been helpful to me in learning to be present in the lives of those impacted with mental health illness.
While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health. Especially in our current season of COVID-19 and sheltering at home, many of us are experiencing situational anxieties, depression, and panic.
We want to help break the stigma and awkwardness around discussions about mental health. This is why we think it is important to keep talking about it, continue to learn about tools that help with coping and let us all be reminded that God is active in caring about mental health.
So many of us have bought into the lie that our struggle with mental health is private and can’t be shared because of what people might think about us. I remember my first struggle with anxiety and even wrote about it HERE. I was so scared and afraid of what women in my church would think of me, what my husband would think of me, what my doctor would think about me. I’m so thankful for the ways that God has shown me over the years that He too cares about my mental health, and so do my friends and family.
We have had many guests over the past 6 years share amazing stories with us, and we pulled six from 2019 that we think you should listen to if you haven’t. Each of them discusses different aspects of mental health. We are proud to have their stories here for you to listen to!
