This last week we were discussing gifts (chapter 12) and it was so much fun!  I was in Arlington, TX & Jennie was in CO with her family.  This time was fun because Aaron was in the room with me, and anytime my love can be there to encourage me and help me is super fun.  Usually I’m the one cheering him on, so it feels good when he’s the one cheering me on!

I love when people have the lightbulb go off in their head about their gifts.  It’s a surreal moment when you think to yourself, “oh my gosh I’m good at this and love it”.  I’ve been feeling like that a lot lately.  When I was on the radio station here in town, I feel like lightbulbs went off all over my head during that time.  I kept feeling like I had found something that I loved.  I had this voice that was getting to say something and I loved it, and felt as though I was doing a good job at it as well.  {Even saying that makes me feel dirty, but I’m taking Jennie’s advice and owning my gifts.}

I loved keeping up with all of you on twitter as you joined in on our conversations!

Since the radio job, I’ve been able to use these gifts a few times and each time they leave me feeling so fulfilled.  I’ve been speaking more to groups around town and love the ability to share my heart and love for the Lord with women.  I have been able to record a few podcast for the If Gathering and each time I loved facilitating that and letting the women I was interviewing share their love for the Lord to thousands of ladies.  In February I was able to facilitate some backstage interviews for If Local and it was so fulfilling as well, and now I’m hosting the Restless Project book club with Jennie and each week I leave each Monday full to the rim.

My gifts are getting used and I love how God is opening doors for me to use them.  I have struggled a lot with feeling proud or arrogant for being excited about my gifts, and God is slowly helping me deal with this and understand how my gifts are not for me, but FROM him and to be used BY him and FOR him.  One of my favorite quotes from Restless says this, “We are all unique and needed in this plan.  To hide our gifts, or to deny them, or to compare and wish them away is not only taking form yourself; it is taking from God, his church, and a world that needs to see the expression of God you bring.  It’s the expression he designed you to bring to it.”  Oh my heart loves those words, and I’m walking in the truth that God’s word says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights” (James 1:17)

What gifts is God developing in you?  How are you using them?

Tonight we’re discussing chapter 13, which is about suffering.  I know that some of you are not ready to process some of your suffering and that is okay.  If you are ready to process the sufferings in your life we would love to have you!  You can still register HERE, so tell your friends and invite them into your home to discuss afterwards.  Jennie & I are loving hearing from you all about how God is moving in your life through this book.  If you missed week one, check out my blog about it HERE, and below is the video from week 2.  You will be blessed tremendously by our special guest, Amena Brown, from this week.  Gosh I love her and her words were so powerful about using her gifts!  You will be encouraged for sure!

Love to you all!  Thanks for going on this journey with us, and I LOVE hearing all that God is doing in your life through HIS word!  See you tonight!
