My #1 question that I get these days is what made you want to start a podcast. How did I know that I wanted to start a podcast.
I always say that this goes back to my days in radio. You have to chuckle a bit when I say my days in radio, because I spent approximately 150 days in radio and that actually made me realize that talking in to a microphone is something that I really loved!

So, working as a morning show DJ made me see an industry that I would have never experienced had I not gone out on the limb and auditioned for the job. About a year after I left the show I wanted to go back so badly. In fact, I almost had the chance to go back, but it just didn’t work out. I missed the outlet of having a voice to share my opinions and encouragement to those listening. I missed the opportunity to talk to amazing people each day. I missed the way that it made me feel to know that someone was smiling because of something that I had said.
I finally decided I was going to start a podcast, but I drug my feet forever because I had no idea how to even think about a podcast. What does a podcast even mean, and how do you make one. No clue. I was a guest on Kat Lee’s show Inspired to Action and it was after that that I truly began to think that just maybe I too could do this whole podcasting thing.
In the Spring of 2014 I began my research to start my own show, and in May of 2014 I launched THE HAPPY HOUR WITH JAMIE IVEY podcast. It has been such a fun journey and this week I released episode #56 of my show and each month I’m seeing more and more downloads to the show, which means more people are enjoying the show and hopefully leaving encouraged, inspired, and full of joy!
I still learn something new each week. I still am experimenting with new show ideas. I am still trying to figure out how to make my audio sound good. I’m still learning so much, but I might have learned a few things in the past year that I can share with you. So I share with you and you share with me! Let’s do this podcasting thing together!
